iPhones are lost and stolen every day, but fortunately, Apple has a unique tool built into iOS that will keep your device safe if it’s misplaced or snatched. With Find My iPhone, you can locate your lost devices. Find My iPhone lets you find your device and take other actions that can help you recover your phone and keep your information intact. Follow these steps to locate your iPhone
Here are the steps to follow if you have lost your iPhone:
Step 1: Open icloud.com/find on any computer, or use the Find My iPhone app on another Apple device.
Step 2: Sign in with the Apple ID(use the Apple ID and password that you used into your own iPhone)
Step 3: It will display a list of devices below on the map. If you find your iPhone tap on it.
Step 4: If your iPhone has been powered off or the battery has died, it will show you the last location of your device.
Step 5: Tap ‘Action’ at the bottom-centre of the screen.
Step 6: Tap ‘play sound’ in the bottom-left corner, it will play a sound to help you locate it.
Step 7: Tap ‘Lost Mode’ in the bottom-centre, you can lock your lost iPhone with a passcode and display a custom message with your phone number on the lock screen as well.
Note: Use a random number set that’s not tied to you: no SSN, no birth date, driving license number, or anything that is personal.
- If your iPhone is online, it will quickly lock and cannot be reset without the lock code. You will be able to see your phone’s current location, as well as any changes in location.
- If your phone is offline, it will lock immediately on power-up. You will receive an email notification and will be able to track your phone’s position.
